Volunteers

Ballarat International Foto Biennale 2009 represents both photographers and the photography audience in general. Our mission is to raise the profile of photography as a legitimate art form alongside the other visual arts in Australia, and to raise the profile of the Australian photographers internationally. We are a not-for-profit organisation that involves volunteers in our work. We adhere to the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement in Not-for-profit Organisations and comply with the Australian definition, principles and model code of practice for involving volunteers.


BIFB ’09 offers a range of benefits to volunteers*:

  • BIFB badged stylish Polar Fleece vest and long sleeve tee.
  • Free admission to all BIFB ‘09 seminars and audio visual projections evenings
  • Discount on BIFB ‘09 workshops (20%) and all BIFB ‘09 merchandise (generally 10%).
  • BIFB ‘09 volunteer name tag and lanyard
  • Free entry to BIFB ‘09 venues which charge admission - i.e The Gold Museum
  • BIFB ‘09 Volunteer Certificate
  • Invitation to BIFB ‘09 wind-up party at the Mining Exchange, Sunday October 4th
  • Free portfolio review [if you commit to 40+ hours volunteering over the course of BIFB’09]

* subject to undertaking a minimum number of volunteer hours throughout the festival month


Volunteer tasks include:

  • Exhibition sitting
  • Exhibition installation and de installation
  • Hospitality
  • Transport
  • Administration
  • etc, etc.
  • most BIFB’09 volunteer tasks require a commitment of 3 hours for each shift
  • BIFB’09 volunteers will be required to undertake two induction sessions prior to the festival
